Cool beans. When you get it, post it here. Would really like to see how the dude handles Necro-Girl.
Also: Mortis Rex or Gideon first? I'm itching to do somebody in Fabrica right now.

Mortis Rex is the leader of the Living Dead, the guy Necro-Girl ran away from.

No, but I currently have accounts for both Champions Online and DC Universe Online.
Of the two, I prefer DCUO. Just as much plot, about the same quality, but it has a better weapons/powers system. CO has a better character creator though.
Also have SWTOR, but that's barely related.

Note: Given that Young Justice recently decided to do the whole "Alpha/Beta/Gamma" team set up, I think it would be best to consider alternative designations for each YG team.

Yeah... that's an unfortunate coincidence, but I agree. Perhaps "Primary, Secondary, Tertiary"? Alternately, since the Academy is (at least on the surface) an educational institution, splitting it into "Novice, Junior, and Senior" might work (if the team division is based on level of preparedness and the amount of time spent at the Academy).

Here' Gideon. K'jiun Orishnek is a nomadic warrior, an extraterrestrial martial warrior who has wandered from world to world, seeking purpose beyond the instinctual gift he has for: combat. He has settled down on Earth for the moment, where he has utilized his gifts in the service of justice and upholding the downtrodden, a justice transcending any written law. However, he has a long and storied past in his previous adventures, and he knows full well that eventually some of his past adversaries will come looking for him... A Guardians associate (non-members with close ties to a Guardian or two), Gideon, as he likes to be called on Earth, is the leader of the second subteam within the Young Guardians, as well as the physical trainer and sensei for their close combat training. Gideon is arguably one of, if not the best physical combatant on the planet, with a skill in hand-to-hand combat and all its myriad forms that is pretty much firmly in the realm of the superhuman. Even the Enforcer, a master fighter in his own right outside his superhuman enhancements, considers him to be better than himself or any opponent he has ever faced. Gideon is borderline precognitive, and few attacks can tag him if he doesn't want to be hit. His alien physiology and intense, grueling training gives Gideon low amounts of superhuman strength and toughness, as well as full on superhuman agility and reflexes. However, the piece de resistance is his ability to master the forces of natural energy in his body, known as chi or ki on Earth. With this, he can channel his senses to superhuman levels, accelerate his body's healing ability, purge himself of poison and disease, and generate a powerful aura of energy that both protects him and greatly enhances his hitting power. This energy can even be shaped into a blade that can slice through concrete and steel, or thrown as blasts of energy.

Actually, the Young Guardians are not a direct part of the Academy. All of them are GISHA graduates who expressed interest in becoming a superhero, and the Young Guardians act as a kind of stepping stone between their educations and becoming professional adult superheroes, perhaps even members of the Guardians. Basically, GISHA and the Young Guardians are separate but related institutions. It was in the very latest episode. The YJ team has grown so large that they split up into separate teams on a regular basis, with the designations Alpha, Beta, Gamma, and Zeta. What I'm saying is, think of different designations other than Greek letters. Besides, its hackneyed.

It was the first episode of the new season. Notable in that it time-skipped ahead five whole years and suddenly the roster is much more similar to Teen Titans (the run with Superboy, not the excellent show), including Beast Boy being on the team. Also this angry fish-guy whose name I keep forgetting.
Also, Dick is Nightwing and Tim is Robin now. Both Wonder Girl and Batgirl have shown up out of the blue. And I have no idea where Red Arrow is. I'm kinda hoping the time-skip isn't permanent.
But yes, part of the episode involved dividing the adolescent team of superheroes into Alpha-Beta-Gamma squads.

I imagine they'll explain it later. I was personally more annoyed by growing lack of creative character design in this show, particularly in regards to aliens/non-human creatures. Seriously, the aliens are so incredibly generic. If not for the rather good Lagoon Boy redesign...

I was fond of the changes to Beast Boy myself. And Batgirl has a pretty cool design. Wonder Girl... what can I say? They pretty much took Cassie from Teen Titans and shoved her straight in there. Same with Blue Beetle.

Hey guys i just thought of an idea for an archer/crime fighter for the Academy he goes by the name of Sparrow. The basic rundown for his back story is he is the son of a major presidential figure who has a lot of shady business going around (Kind of like a Lex type, has a lot of hatred of mutants and magic beings) Sparrow is a natural mutant who is born with wings so he ends of being abused by his father his whole childhood and eventually has his wings torn off by his father and group of friends. Sparrow later runs away and isn't heard from for years and eventually enrolls in the academy and plans to put an end to his father evil plan to bring down not only the academy but the guardians.

Related to the Guardians.

I'm leaning Guardian-based, but Government-based makes more sense for funding. A team of not-for-profit heroes funded only by donations and any personal funds of team members is not the greatest source of money for any school-type environment (especially not one prone to repair bills caused by blooming powers).

Do I have to keep reminding you guys that the Academy =/= the Young Guardians? They're related, yes, but are not the same thing. One is a school for superhumans and prospective superheroes, the other is a training program for would-be superheroes and graduates from the Academy.
As far as funding goes, I could easily see the Academy being backed by any number of private interests, including wealthy supers seeking to support the cause of supers-rights.

Aye, sorry. Forgot that.
In that case, how about a private benefactor? Some rich person who is willing to bankroll an academy of trained superhumans? Mind you, if the person is a villain or at least truly neutral, you could get some interesting stories out of that... Would you mind if I started to make a character to this effect?
