Actually, I don't think you'll need to take anyone out Icecap, as two more would total the team to 10. Or if you insist on removing someone of yours, Fuz could add three characters of his own instead of two.

I should have images of Omega Man, Thunderbolt, Synergy, and Eden within the next 3-5 days. My next batch will include Hydra, Wildcard, Lady Mesmerize, and Vanguard. Then after that I will try to flesh out the rest of the Academy Students then begin on my final designs for villians.

Ok cool 10 is a great number for the team

That said, I think its a big enough number for the group.

10 is a big number...you would need to amp up the threats, or have a rotating roster depending on the threat

Well, given that this team is basically supposed to be our equivalent to the Avengers or Justice League, its natural that the threats would be pretty "up there." Also, bear in mind they are part of the larger "Guardians Global Unity" ala JLU.

I can move Vanguard to the global unity and then we can give fuzzy two spots to make the team cap 9

Hmmm...I suppose that can work. I'm still working on my replacement for Empress, and if she doesn't work out, then we can cut down the size of the team a bit.
I'm just trying to think in terms of utility and role for characters a bit here. I'm gonna rework my contributions to the team a bit, maybe demote Durga and Thunderhead to regular GGU members.

I think Thunderhead should stay with the core team

Post by BS Digital Q on Mar 5, 2012 18:38:35 GMT -5
Why, if I may ask?
I'm trying to come up with "epic" origins for my members of the team, and while the Empress replacement and Enforcer are promising, Thunderhead and Durga aren't.

I just really liked his powers but I guess he will fit with the unlimted team just as well. As far as the team what do you think we need? Right now the only members that look like they would stand a chance aganist the villians we have are Omega and the Enforcer maybe Radius

Well, to be honest, there's two things I want in my characters, and to a lesser extent in the rest of the Guardians (lesser, in that those are still the characters of other folks):
1) An epic backstory. Basically, I should be able to tell this character's story in a movie, and the character should be able to hold his/her own title of solo adventures.
2) A familiar yet distinct role. Essentially, the character should fill a role that allows them to be "familiar" and that could be traced to a similar role in a team like the Avengers or JLA, but this character is not an obvious "pastiche" or analogue of that character.
I would like this team to be distinct and different from the classic lineups for teams like the JLA/Avengers (ESPECIALLY the JLA, who easily have the most iconic lineup, and thus the one more easily capable of being "homaged"). One way is to think about team roles. There's the classic "Five Man Band" lineup which could be expanded to ten (The Hero, The Lancer, The Big Guy, The Smart Guy, The Chick). And then there's power roles and archetypes, like Blasters, Speedsters, Flying Bricks, Powerhouses, Martial Artists, Weapons Masters, etc. What sort of roles do we want on this team?
Pretty much the only reason I would keep Thunderhead on the team is because he would be a fairly unique take on a blaster in this sort of team (weather manipulators are rare). Thats pretty much it. But between him and Durga, I'm having a hard time nailing down a "story" that I can tell with them.

As for the characters having a chance against the villains, well, I believe its good to stack the odds against the heroes. Since the Guardians are meant to be among the very best and most powerful heroes around, it should be logical to assume that therefore the villains they face can present them with the kind of threats that aren't easily dealt with.

Any where I can find a list of bio's and powers so I don't create duplicates. I am thinking my hero NOBLE may be a variation of Omega Man to some extent even though their origins may be different

I'm considering merging aspects of Durga into my Empress replacement. As for Thunderhead, I'll keep him, unless I am absolutely certain I cannot come up with a good story for him.
So my contributions to the group will be The Enforcer, Thunderhead, and this other character, and that will be it.
@ Fuzzy: Right now, the vast majority of characters don't have set in stone bios. You'll have to ask to make sure.
Right now, the lineup for the Guardians is:
Thunderhead (Weather Controller) The Enforcer (Enhanced Soldier, High-Tech Multi-Ammo Gun) *Unnamed Female Character* (Mystic Weapons Summoning) Omegaman (Flying Brick) Radius (Energy Manipulation/Absorption) Lady Mesmerize (Psychic Powers)
Fuzzy, how about you make three characters and we'll cap this team off at 9 members.

Well, it'll make him a bit Flash-esuqe, but yellow goes well with purple. Maybe have yellow as the secondary color, with orange highlights.

Ok...So here is my 3 Did a bit of digging in my archives and creating a fit for the existing line up So her we go CINDER Fire manipulation Flight Mid level heat output, can reach intense levels with concentration and right circumstances Normal Strength and Endurance levels ( so she isn't able to carry much weight when in flight for example) Snarky attitude with more power then she is aware off Rookie to limitied experience, think Songbird during the early Thunderbolt days
ONYX The Strong Guy Immense Physical Strength and Endurance Try to max him out with the current strongest character? Skin converts to a smooth Black rock substance when in this mode, endurance and strength is increased Younger but experienced
Savant Tech Wizard Not mush of a front line character Think X-men's Forge but extend's to computer knowledge as well
What do you think?
|
|
|
Post by BS Digital Q on Mar 9, 2012 15:49:01 GMT -5
Hmmm, I'd be concerned about Savant if he's not much of a front line character. I mean, yeah, sure, a techie on the team would be GREAT, but mayhap make him so that he could at least be able to fight alongside the other members?
Love the description on Cinder, but with Radius around I'm feeling like she'd be a bit redundant, since radius can basically do everything you described her doing and then some. Also doesn't sound like a terribly powerful character who would fit in as a member of a group of some of the most powerful heroes in the world.
I like Onyx, though the name is a tad boring to me. Maybe something like Blackstone or Stonewall or Obsidian?
Got any visual references for these characters?

ONYX seems really cool as the team could use another powerhouse. My only concern about Oynx and cinder are there experience. Were trying to make the guardians like are Justice League.

Post by BS Digital Q on Mar 9, 2012 16:13:35 GMT -5
Its possible to have a younger sort of hero on a Justice League type team. See Kyle Rayner on Grant Morrisson's JLA.
That said, since the Guardians themselves have been around for approximately ten years, yeah, I don't think any of the members would count as "rookies."
