No one knows where they came from, not even the Gods. Primordial artifacts from the dawn of time or from a world before time began, devices and tools keyed to the very harmonies and fabrics of space, time, and dimension. As civilizations rose and fell across the galaxy, certain men and women found themselves coming into possession of these artifacts. Those that were not destroyed by them or driven mad, who had the force of will to do so, mastered the weapons, and in so doing gained access to powers unimaginable. In time, these warriors became known as Bearers. At one time they were an organized group that patrolled and protected the universe, halting wars and holding back extradimensional horrors.
But all good things must come to an end, and in one way or another, the weapons found themselves adrift again. Sometimes they would be found again, and a new generation of Bearers would rise, only to fall eventually once more.
Currently there are no living bearers except one, and we do not speak of his malignancy. But shortly, that will change. For if he were to be free again, a new band of Bearers would have to rise again. For there are very few powers known that can deal with an experienced Bearer, and not all of the Universal Weapons are created equally...
