Shakti Maravar belonged to the Maravar, a family line of Indian warriors and soldiers turned multigenerational family-owned corporate empire specializing in exotic weapons manufacturing. Ever since birth, she has been groomed for a purpose, on the surface as a way to secure a future important business transaction. But the reality is different.
According to traditional Maravar folk stories, there was a time when dark forces from beyond the walls of the world broke in to cause devastation and suffering. To oppose these demonic forces, the Maravar could call upon a force of justice, an “ultimate warrior.” Using this warrior they drove back the dark forces, and ever since used it to guard against incursion. But the secret to that warrior has been lost for thousands of years. Now the Maravar family intends to once again summon it, through Shakti and her arranged marriage.
But Shakti is not that kind of girl. She is strong-willed and independent, refusing to bow to the forces of tradition that her family abides by. On the day of her marriage, she is able to run away, and with what she has makes her way to Africa, vowing to define herself. She will stand alone, her life hers to live, free and independent. In Africa, she arrives in the country of Shagabwe, a dictatorship ruled by a corrupt military government, volunteering to aid humanitarian efforts in the face of oppression, both from the government and an equally despotic rebellion force. To stop this rebellion, the Shagabwe regime makes a secret pact with a nefarious organization, which provides them with demonic cyborg supersoldiers, in exchange for their children. At the same time, oil is discovered in the region. International interests are turned toward the country, especially after a humanitarian documentary filmmaker attempts to expose what is happening. The result is that the people who travel to the country are slaughtered by the Shagabwe’s new soldiers. These factors contribute to a US-led intervention, but the cyborgs route the would-be invaders. With corporations interested in exploiting the region, the US turns to the Maravar Corporation to produce a countermeasure to the demonic cyborgs. But without Shakti they cannot access the ultimate warrior, though they use what aspects of it they have retrieved to create their own supersoldiers. However, Shakti’s sister, embittered over her prominence, believes that she is the one they need, not Skakti, and puts herself at the center of efforts to summon the warrior.
Shakti feels helpless against the forces around her, pursuing and persecuting her. But rather than give up hope to despair, she strives forward, determined. She decides that if she can, she will summon the ultimate warrior herself, without her family’s permission or assistance. As the demonic forces close in, she struggles to do so, until finally, at the moment of truth, she becomes one with the warrior, which is not an entity, but a weapon, a tool of empowerment. By realizing her inner strength of will and independence, she has gained access to the traits of the ultimate warrior: physical power equivalent to her will, and an arsenal of mystically empowered armor and weapons that can culminate into a giant armored warrior.
