In short, the Pit is a privately run prison for villains, rogue metas, and superfiends situated somewhere in the deepest regions of Antarctica, buried underground.
While there could be other superprisons in this universe, The Pit offers advantages over them. Among these includes its superior security, the affordability of its fees for containing prisoners versus the costs of a country running its own superprison, and the fact that it can take unwanted threats off the hands of any country that doesn't want them. Effectively, it avoids many of the legal and political pitfalls of superhuman imprisonment by being a kind of neutral ground.
However, the Pit has its own dark secrets, from the shady backgrounds of its staff and the corporation that runs it, to the fact that certain supervillains are conveniently "let go of" and when caught sent back to this prison, to the fact that it contains the single largest collection of omnicidal maniacs, world destroyers, and universal threats, all held in stasis. Some think the prison is a bomb waiting to go off with such a massive concentration of supervillains in a confined location. Some think there's a bigger conspiracy at work...

Thanks.
If you need someone to come up with designs for your character, Red-X or I can do it for you using Fabrica De Herois.
I have looked at Ice Cap and Brocky. I can't really get over the name "Brocky," which sounds like a lame attempt at a pun (The name Brock + Rocky), but other than that he's okay as a character. Ice Cap is also okay, though I'll give your points for creativity on the "freezing his own body" trick. Definitely unique that.

There can be other superprisons, y'know. The whol idea behind the Pit is 1), its a heckuva lot more convienient and cheaper to send prisoners there than to the other prisons because of how utterly expensive it is to keep supercriminals imprisoned, and 2) there is a conspiracy going on, because supervillains released from there that are captured are then brought back to this specific facility, almost like it was planned that way...

I like they idea of the super prison. Makes for a great back drop for a Villains United story down the line. But sadly the idea has been touched on a bit in Young Justice recently, but no means does it say we can't take it to the next level. For example, a corrupt warden secretly organizing the in mates to amass a army to take over the world. Recruiting top level talent for his lieutenants and conducting strength and power augmentation experiments on the lower level thugs. So the warden could be the Max Lord type from the JLI days, but behind the scenes making no apologies for what he is trying to accomplish Give him a secret ability as well, to make him tougher in a physical confrontation to give him that extra layer of untouchability like Lord..maybe Sebastion SHaw like kinetic ability? But like the idea and could be a huge source of fun

Pretty much everything you mentioned is what I had in mind; the reality behind the Pit is that the "private corporation" running it is actually a front for a super-criminal organization, similar to Dammerung but different in their methods (i.e., manipulation and subtlety versus super-terrorism). The Pit is essentially a recruiting ground masquerading as a prison, and the villain behind all this is similarly masquerading as an inmate of the prison itself, and all the prison staff are his subordinates. His interactions with the inmates allows him to directly determine who he thinks would work best in his organization, and then he recruits them; either they accept, or he arranges an "accident."

I hear ya I think one man would be more sinister then a corporation. Dracula is Scary, but would he be if he was a pawn of a bigger picture?
If you want the Pit to be a corporation or have links to it, it should be Cadmus level. Shadow Agency that is far reaching Or go with the Corpration angle, but have the warden a rogue agent doing things they would not condone in their name perhaps?
Just spit balling, the idea is very sound

I'd prefer to stick to the "secret sinister criminal conspiracy" route, with the whole Pit in on it. That way, it isolates any infiltrating heroes, who can't even rely on the prison staff should they get in too deep.
Maybe after the conspiracy is outed and the whole operation collapses, maybe another more benign corporation or a UN effort can take over, though the whole thing would never have the same novelty again.

I love the idea of the pit, it will make for great storylines down the road. The secret behind the organization makes it that much better. My only complaint if any would be the location, as it is the same location as in Young Justice. I can picture it being in the jungle, or maybe underground?

Antarctica, buried in the mountains near the South Pole. That was my idea for its location. Reason being that its literally thousands of miles from any remotely human settlements, which puts it outside the ability of most supers to escape. That, and it allows the facility to have special "safeguards" in place that it otherwise wouldn't be able to have if it were relatively closer to civilization.

Antarctica is a pretty good location. The place is miles away from any civilization (except for a few research camps), it's fairly difficult to get to using any regular mode of transportation. What's more, Antarctica is a completely neutral territory, so supervillains from all over the world could be shipped there with a minimum of hassle. Plus Antarctica has rugged scenery that fits the tone of a sinister prison (not very visible in literature, but it's a nice mental image for readers).
Really, the only other place to send them would be space (and then there's the danger that if they DO make it off the station they could then land anywhere on the planet).

I would be hesitant to place any sort of "main base" in space, if only because all it takes to destroy such a place is some joker venting everyone into space. Happened in one RPG I was in where a hero turned traitor and basically killed thousands of superheroes in the space-station simply by venting all air/life support, turning the station's defenses against them, then crashing the thing into a populated area.
Really, you don't need to be uber-powerful to cause a lot of damage and loss of life.
Anyway, glad ya agree on the Antarctica location.
