Quick question: I wanted to create a plant-based superhero to replace Obsidian for the Guardians. Big guy, transforms to become super-powered, vulnerable to fire. However, as you mentioned, I wanted to start tying together formerly separate characters in order to give the universe a sense of greater unity. I was wondering if I could tie his origins to Eden somehow, but I'm not really familiar enough with her backstory to do so.

Yea that would be cool. Im still brainstorming ideas for her bio at the moment but we can work one this together, lets bounce a couple of ideas for them then pick the on that works best.

What do you think about making them brother and sister with the same mutant genes, similar to cyclops and havok?

That could kinda work. I was leaning a mystic origin myself, but I have WAY too many mystic heroes already. I don't really want the 'mutant' thing to be too much of a cop-out for powers, but since they're plant-based there is at least a biological basis in their abilities (except for Eden's terrakinesis, although if you changed that to being able to control decomposed plant matter as well she'd still have some nice soil-based abilities).
Just to clarify, I wanted my guy (placeholder name of Trent, short for "Tree-Ent") to literally be able to turn tree-like and grow thorn spears that he can break off and use as weapons. I can change that somewhat to make him more similar to Eden, but I really like the transformation aspect.

As for powers you can keep the same abilities because there already similar. A mystic backround would work. What did you have in mind?

I'm getting a Floronic Man vibe off of him based off of the description. Self-experimentation gone wrong? You'd have to tread carefully so as to not make him too much like Swamp-Thing/Man-Thing.
I think it'd be more interesting if he can turn into a giant humanoid tree, ala Groot.

Yeah, I think the giant-tree thing works better. Certainly more interesting.

So the question is, is he stuck like that or can he become a giant walking tree? The latter would help distinguish him from Groot and the like. Maybe he can control the transfrormation, so that he can generate giant tree limbs or roots/vines from his body without necessarily completely changing?

Ill get rid of Eden's earth control set and focus more on the plant side. As far as mystic backround what did you have in mind? Awesome character design by the way Kerveon, seems like the perfect fit for the guardians as i look at the team.

That's more-or-less what I wanted to do. These are powers, not a curse. The transformation was always supposed to be very controlled, and I certainly like the idea of him being able to do partial transformations to fit a situation (sudden branch-arm for example), and then being able to fully transform in extremely dire circumstances.

Kinda busy with school atm, but this weekend I'll nail down a specific tie-in.

Ok sounds good. Ill give Eden the same powerset. She'll start off as a basic plant control type then once she matures she'll branch into the transformation.

No i was talking about power replacement for Obsidion. I couldn't think of another type of big besides a stone/steel type but tree/plant design is perfect

Oh, I see. Just when you say "design" I thought there was an actual image Kerevon had done.
